Sketches & Ink

After making all the planning documents and character designs, it was time to create the the comic! I started by creating small thumbnails of all the pages on one sheet. From there, I sketched out each page, using the thumbnails, script and sometimes the original story for reference. Once all the sketches were done, I pulled them into Procreate one at time to ink them.

At this point in the process, I realized I did not have enough time to get all 23 pages complete by the project's deadline. So, I only inked the absolutely necessary pages. Then it was time for color! My process was fairly simple. I went through with a small set of colors and completed sections of each page that required the same colors. This way, I ensured that the colors matched throughout the pages. I used  the same method to create the shading. Once all the coloring and shading was finished, I imported the pages into Photoshop to create the word bubbles, text, and finished page layouts.
